First Rung to College Program

Lakeland Community College is offering a GED preparation program, First Rung to College, which will also count toward college credit. As a “bridge” program, it is geared to individuals who wish to prepare for the GED exam and plan to enroll in college.

The program will run concurrently with Lakeland’s fall semester from Aug. 23 to Dec. 15, and is offered in collaboration with Auburn Career Center’s Aspire program. Auburn instructors will provide GED preparation instruction, while Lakeland instructors will teach components of the college’s First Year Experience course. Students who successfully complete the First Year Experience component will attain college readiness and earn college credit.

Morning and evening classes will be held at Lakeland. Students in the program will have access to Lakeland resources.

To be eligible for the program, individuals are required to take a pretest, which can be scheduled by calling 440-525-7452. Those accepted attend free of cost.
